Merry Christmas

by Pastor Billy Chidester

Merry Christmas to you all. I pray that this is a special time for you and that the Lord blesses you with peace from the Prince of Peace and joy from our Humble King Jesus. We rejoice that He was born in a manger 2000 years ago, but today He is no longer in that manger! May your Christmas season truly be merry and bright.

As we come to the close of this year, I would like for you to pray about something very important. We have come to several points that represent a new beginning for Elmdale Baptist Church. We are soon to re-enter our sanctuary (Woohoo!!), we have been thinking differently about our finances, and we have a vision committee rethinking our church’s health and vision.

I have been thinking about that new beginning in terms of a RESET. Simply put, RESET means getting back to the basics so that we can be better stewards and give our best to the Lord. What are the basics? I believe the basics are those things which remain if we go all the way back to the book of Acts when there were no buildings and no budgets.

What I need from you is to go back to the beginning. Go to Acts 2:42-47 and read it. Not just once or twice, but many times. And read it, stopping to ask the Lord to help us understand it. Ask the Lord to open your eyes and the eyes of our congregation to what those basics are. As we do that together, I know that he will bring us together in unity to follow the Lord as we reset, RESET, as a church.

God bless you and have a Merry Christmas.
