Begging God

by Pastor Billy Chidester
Have you ever wandered what Jesus’ prayer life looked like? The Bible gives us a glimpse of His prayer life in numerous places in the New Testament, but I’d like to bring your attention to one in particular. Look at Hebrews 5:7:
“During His earthly life, He offered prayers and appeals with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.”
My challenge to you this week is that you would pray and appeal to the Lord and may those prayers and appeals be with crying and tears. Cry to the Lord on behalf of the lost in your family and in your neighborhood. Shed tears on behalf of the the people in our community who are lost and going to hell. Cry on behalf of those who are struggling with forgiveness and have clung to bitterness. Shed tears as you ask God to show up and move powerfully this coming Sunday.
If you have struggled with shedding tears over these things in the past (or other requests), then ask God to break your heart and give you tears for those things that break His heart.
God bless you. May the Lord strengthen you as you seek Him this week. And may we be changed by the power of Christ in us.
